Situated in Lysaker, this venue is a true city escape, offering a vibrant yet peaceful atmosphere just a stone's throw from the bustling capital. The property boasts expansive outdoor green spaces and large lawns specifically tailored for outdoor yoga and meditation practices. When the weather permits, classes are moved outside so students can connect directly with nature, breathing in the fresh, salty air from the nearby fjord. The manor itself exudes an air of historic grandeur, providing a grounded, nurturing environment that enhances our comprehensive curriculum. Inside, you will find beautifully appointed practice rooms that harmonize with our philosophy of blending ancient wisdom with modern science. Getting There
The Shala Fornebu is highly accessible, located in Lysaker, just outside Oslo, Norway. The closest major airport is Oslo Airport, Gardermoen (OSL), which is approximately 55 kilometers (35 miles) away. From the airport, you can take the Flytoget (Airport Express Train) directly to Lysaker Station in about 35 minutes. From Lysaker Station, it is a short 5-minute ride on Bus 31 or a pleasant walk to the Fornebu Hovedgård estate. If arriving by car, there is parking available nearby, and the drive from central Oslo takes only about 15 minutes.
Climate & Weather
Fornebu enjoys a temperate continental climate. Summer (June to August) is the most popular time to visit, offering mild, pleasant temperatures ranging from 15°C to 22°C (60°F - 72°F) and exceptionally long daylight hours for evening outdoor practices. Pack light layers, comfortable yoga wear, and a swimsuit for fjord dips. Winters (December to February) are cold and often snowy, with temperatures averaging -5°C to 2°C (23°F - 35°F). If visiting in winter, pack warm coats, insulated boots, and cozy layers for indoor practice, as the snowy manor grounds create a magical, introspective retreat environment.
